Media Diet
In 2025 I reached peak YouTube video addiction. That got me through the year, but enough is enough. Apart from the importance of other things in life, that service is now so shot through with “AI” slop that it’s no longer worth the cost in patience. There are a few channels done by real people that I’ll still jump into direct:
- Internet Today
- RM Brown
- Jack Saint
- Stories of Futures Past (a sleepy-time habit)
Apart from that, my Japanese has been slipping. In 2026 I’ll aim to address that, beginning with a look at morning news on Mainichi Shinbun, and keeping a page-turner detective novel next to the easy chair (currently松本清張「点と線」[1958]). I should be watching more Japanese news and drama as well.
